Meet THALIA! She’s doing very well in foster and is impressing everyone she meets with her calm and gentle temperament. She’s not a cuddle bug but maybe with the right family she will change her ways! She’s 6 years old and very wise. She likes to sit out and just be with you. She is animal social and prefers others that will chill out with her.

Meet BANDIT! She was found tied to a shack with no food or water in site. She was very trusting of us but having food was a pretty big incentive. She walked home on her first ‘leash’ ever — she weaved in and around my legs as we walked through the jungle together. She was frightened but adjusted very quickly. Laura and I were able to pet her as soon as we brought her to her refuge (Hannah’s lovely home)! Since, she has been progressing beautifully! She is very sweet and very smart. She now knows sit and is working on other commands with her foster. She’s already walking much better on a leash with a harness and enjoys exploring outside! She is still nervous especially around loud noises as she adjusts to the downtown Toronto atmosphere. She is nervous when meeting new dogs and people but being around calm energy really helps her get out of her shell. She does not like cats. She is roughly 2 years old and is a Dominican mix. She was also just spayed! She will need to gain some weight and will get to be about 25lbs when healthy!

Meet BRUCE. He craves attention and is so happy to be here. He was given to SOS by a local who begged founder Laura to take him as he loved him but couldn’t afford to feed him. He was the alpha of the village which shows in his personality. He’s bigger and badder but it’s all talk. He will growl at other male dogs to show he is the top dog but otherwise is very dog social. He grew up as a street dog and is used to being around other animals. He is adjusting to life as a Canadian pet– as he has always had free-run of the village, with no leash or commands. He is excited to learn and please as he is very interested in getting human affection! He will need all basic training. He is completely vetted and has been neutered. He is 1 year old and is a Dominican mix — with mostly black lab showing through. He has not been tested with cats. He is being fostered in Burlington.

Meet TIGGER! He’s part tiger part cartoon character. She is a 8 month old chiweenie rescue from the Dominican. She was found abandoned. She is a very new arrival and is settling into life in Toronto. Her days are filled with sleep, and yes, more sleep. I MEAN BOUNCING.. TIGGER’S days are filled with bouncing everywhere. She gets a little nervous when meeting other dogs but is good with them. She’s scared of cats but is adjusting by getting used to her foster’s cat. She listens to commands well and has been sleeping through the night in her own bed. She is being fostered in Toronto.

Meet MIA. This girl is a complete lap dog! She is working on basic commands and improving how to walk on a leash! She is mostly house trained with only a few accidents as she settled in and sorted a routine in her foster home. She is a Chihuahua weighing in at about 10lbs! She’s good with cats and is improving with dogs. Her initial reaction when meeting other dogs used to be to growl and bark but she has already improved in her foster room! She is good with dogs after she knows them. She’s a cuddle monster and will light up any room!
