It’s the BEST day of the week again! PET THURSDAY!

We constantly fill your feed with Save Our Scruff updates because WE LOVE THEM, but if you still don’t know… Save Our Scruff is an organization based out of Toronto, created by Laura Bye. Save Our Scruff focuses on rescuing and rehoming dogs in need into loving homes here in Toronto and the GTA.

BUT do you know what’s even better? The success stories! These puppies deserve a loving home and that is EXACTLY what they got! Here are their stories:

MOZART//MO is now in his furever home! He’s had a lot of adjustments but you’d never know as he is adapting so well. He’s pictured here with his new sister from another mother, but also a St. Bernard! He’s living the country life with lots of space and enjoyed his first night by a bonfire surrounded by his entire family! Today he went on a trail walk and it doesn’t look like things could get better. Congrats buddy! P.S. We’d like to thank his fosters to helping out substantially after his surgery and being the support system this guy needed to succeed.

Toronto must be a small place cause we just found KING JIMBO on a walk with his adopter! This lucky guy came to us in very poor heart conditions, needing a lot of attention and even surgery! After fundraising, he was able to get the fixin’ that he needed and was ready for adoption! He’s now in a new state and on a health kick. His teeth, skin and weight have all improved and he is now able to live with no annoyances! This guy couldn’t even go for walks before because his health was that bad! He’s a completely new dude!!

Scruff Alumni OBA travelled to Canada in SOS’s first rescue mission from Egypt! He was very young and underweight– but we were excited that he was adopted quickly and had a chance at a successful life! He soon after developed mange and we fundraised to help get him the proper care and medication that he needed. SOS is happy to announce that OBA now CAIRO is doing very well and his mange is on the mend! SOS is rooting for your continued success and we want to thank everyone who donated to the cause!! Here’s CAIRO and his family at the lupus walk this past weekend!

Wondering what’s been going on with YOKO since her adoption?! Well first, she’s been renamed FORKS! It gets better. Second, she’s actually our first pup to be traveling (that we know of). We are used to pups coming from all over the world but actually going back out there.. that’s kind of awesome. She is currently traveling the USA and is enroute to Mount Rushmore with her adopter! She is then going to Banff and Jasper before heading back East! This is amazing! We will hopefully be following their story and get some awesome pictures of her everywhere! Adopter Pritish explained that she’s an awesome pup who despite going through a lot in the early stages of life (being rescued from life as a human target for kids), she has come out on top with an adorable persona. She has been very adopting of her environment (pun intended) and loves everything around her. She has lots of love to give despite living through experiences where one might give up hope, especially for a relationship with humans. Her journey has just started!

Remember BEAR?! He was on our show and now he has his FOREVER home!

BEAR is now in his lovely new home. Here’s what his family had to say: “Bear is bonding and adjusting so nicely! We’ve broken our rules already as he sleeps in bed with us, and has claimed a couch ? ..so much for the doggie bed which he uses more to store his toys and treats! He’s been so good! No marking at all in the house. He was left home alone on Friday, and he had full access to all the rooms with no problems (I think he slept on my bed most of the day) I think the girls have needed more training than bear. Reminding them to speak one at a time with him, and give him space. He’s been awesome with them. Lots of walks with no problems. The very rare soft growl, we say no and he’s fine (at the odd dog) And a bath at pet value today So he’s extremely soft and handsome! Vet apt. on Thursday for microchip, and checkup, and he’ll get his doggy license this week. He’s so smart, we want to live up to his training! And keep up his good habits! We also let him off leash in our backyard, and a few times at the park. Boy he can run fast and happy! As I tucked my oldest in bed last night, she mentioned, that just last week we met Bear, but somehow feels like we’ve known each other forever.”

INDIA is now in her forever home! She has been renamed STEVIE NICKS! “Stevie has become such an amazing part of my life. She’s so well behaved, calm and cuddly! My favourite part is watching her interactions with my 20 month old niece, she is so calm and gentle….even when Albany grabs her for slobbery kisses. She is way more confident with other dogs now and actually seeks them out instead of shying away immediately. We are working on learning how to play since she ignores toys, and doesn’t quite understand the concept of fetch. I hope with a little bit more socialization she will show a much more playful and energetic side! Thanks again to everyone at SOS for such an amazing adoption experience and for everything you do for the animals we love!!

Update: Still enjoying the sun in Ontario! From the streets of Cancun Mexico to the Beaches of Toronto! Here’s what NAHLAS adopters had to say about her: “We first fostered this pretty girl 6 weeks ago and right away she stole our hearts. So we went through with the adoption. She is progressing very well. In the matter of days she was house trained, sits, lays down, shakes both paws, spins, plays fetch and loves to play with all the other dogs down at the beach. Nalha even loves to rollerblade! Lucky Dog! Lucky us too. We get down to the Beach 3-4x’s a day. Which then makes her a super cuddlier. She is the best thing that has happened to us. Thank you Save Our Scruffs!! Xo”

Remember Oscar?! He’s loving life right now with his new owner and our co-worker Daisy!

OSCAR is now in his home! “It’s been less than a week since we first brought Oscar home and already we can’t imagine our family without this little guy! He is an absolute cuddle monster and will climb onto any lap available! With those sweet puppy dog eyes though, who could say no? After a warm lap to cuddle on, second in line has to be napping in the sun. If you can’t find Oscar in the house, more often than not, he’s lying on the kitchen floor getting his tan on! He’s been great when meeting new dogs and we can’t walk him down the street without someone saying how cute he is (#babemagnet). Thanks to Save Our Scruff for bringing Oscar into our lives and making the entire adoption process so easy and exciting!! (Fosters @fayeblais & @vicjungal, if you see this, Oscar says hello with a big smooch!)

MEET the puppies STILL up for adoption:

JOHNNY BRAVO is every 90’s child dream man.. And now you can have him in dog form!! He’s a husky, retriever, corgi mix and medium to high energy. This guy is looking for all the best things! Humans, dog friends, food and play!

Screen Shot 2015-05-28 at 5.33.33 PM

AUSSIE OSBOURNE is looking for a home!! He’s a 5 month Australian shepherd // blue heeler mix, likes to take rests during his walks, has LOTS of energy and is the friendliest little guy (tries to befriend every dog, person, car and leaf he walks by).

SOKKAR has more good angles than any dog or human I know. He is up for ADOPTION. He’s super docile in the home, loves to cuddle and be right next to humans! He is territorial around dogs, sometimes when other dogs get attention and when food is involved. He will bark at dogs he doesn’t know and needs to be introduced properly. He is currently in foster care with another dog and learning a lot! He also has been making doggy friends and becoming more social. He marks a lot on walks which needs to be corrected in order for him to know his place. He needs to be in a home with a socially mature dog that can show him the ropes. He thrives outside and will need a yard to play! It needs to be enclosed as he likes to find escape roots! SOKKAR is looking for a human connection with someone who will help him understand the pet life. He was on the streets of Egypt for 4 years and is going through a midlife crisis as he is kind of starting new again, finding a place in someone’s home.

TINY TINA is cute from her head to her itty bitty tail! She’s looking for a home where she is either the only pup or around another very calm dog. She’s head of hearing and has problems with her vision. She has lived 7 years without a permanent home and we now think it’s her time! She just wants to be in her owners lap! She also enjoys walks and will have little bursts of energy! She’d love to be home with someone or taken around town! She is 5lbs of pure joy!

BRUCE our recent Dominican rescue is settling into life in Toronto! He’s adjusting to life as a pet, being very affectionate with humans and trying to grasp the idea of having a doggy sibling. He is good with small dogs and learning his relationship with bigger dogs. He currently lives with another larger dog and is doing so comfortably. A second dog in the home would help him build on his social skills and make him more comfortable meeting new friends. He loves to cuddle and is a PERECT walker. He needs some training and needs to work on his manners. For example, he loves food but will jump up to receive it. He’s medium-large size, a black lab mix and was recently neutered! He is being fostered in Toronto.

BANDIT is up for a adoption! Here’s what her foster had to say: “BANDIT is full of nothing but love to give. She greets me every morning with kisses when she wakes up and any other chance she gets. She is house trained and will cry when she wants to go outside. She is very food motivated, which is excellent for training. She has gotten better at “sit” and “stay” when waiting for a treat or food. She LOVES apples and is committed to finishing bones once given one. I invite her to sleep on my bed but she has found a comfortable spot on her bed right beside mine and sleeps there all night until the morning. She has lady like leash manners, but has shown interest in birds and rabbits when out on walks. We are working on her not jumping in their direction and she is a fast learner making lots of progress. She shows some interest in other dogs and their barking can sometimes frighten her. She is patient with kids as she lets my 7 year old and 16 month old cousins pet, walk and kiss her. She will give them kisses right back, do NOT leave your mouth open! She is a wonderful companion to enjoy the cool summer nights with!” She is medium sized, dog social and is ready for a loving home!

Adoptable LEO was rescued from a high kill shelter in California. If he didn’t find a foster, he would have had nowhere to go. Please consider opening up your home and helping a dog in need if you live in the GTA.
