Anxiety reached “I just want to crawl in a hole and play with cats” levels when Facebook accidentally revealed how many view counts your status update gets.

A bug on Facebook yesterday revealed how many people actually viewed your post on the platform. Naturally, this led to widespread panic:

The strange thing about this feature is that, it’s not a feature. Facebook said, its ‘bug’ and that they have no plans to reveal this data to the public. As Mashable reports via a Facebook spokesperson:

“A Facebook spokesperson confirmed to Mashable and The Verge that this is indeed a bug, and not a rollout of a new feature. The view counts were only visible to a small number of people, and will be removed soon.”

Think about all the times we could have posted a status update and known that all of our friends saw it and didn’t like it. Facebook is depriving us of this precious moment.
