Please open up your homes to us so we can stick together. We have lived together for 12 years. We will be very grateful and never ever ever do anything bad. These doggies are so cute!! SIMON & GARFUNKEL are bonded buddies! They are super affectionate, cuddly and low-key. They like to go with the flow and are happy being by your side or on your lap. They love going for walks and benefit from getting some energy out. They are also happy being your jogging partner as both will run along side you with smiles on. If their records didn’t say that they were 12 years old, we wouldn’t even guess that as a possible age! They are happy go lucky dudes who will definitely brighten up the rest of your life.

ROMEO is totally ready for anyone to pet him and will prance up to any new face and hope for some love and attention. TURBO is a little more reserved and will stay close to his human companion until he feels safe. Both dogs are happy dudes, looking for someone to let them rent out their couch and in return get two adorable (and don’t forget soft) cuddle buddies. They only ask for a short walk or two a day and possibly some playtime at the dog park where ROMEO will show you his speed! Both are dog social but ROMEO likes to chase cats! They also aren’t the biggest kid fans but are good with dog friendly, older ones. We get that it seems like a lot to welcome two fluff balls into your home, but they make it quite easy as they are both very adaptable and easy going. They are great home alone, good with new faces and friends and will be great additions to your family. Please consider opening your home to two amazing and loving dudes.

SCOTCH! He is almost 8 weeks old and is a Springer spaniel (possible mix). It is crucial that this guy goes to a home with a yard and to someone who will give this high energy breed a lot of action!

Her fosters call her their “Egyptian Princess” but we call her JOSEY! This girl is an adorable Retriever/Spaniel mix (our best guess) and weighs a healthy 55lbs at the ripe age of 10 months! JOSEY settled in pretty quickly! She has scars and scrapes (which we are treating) from her past but is looking forward to a better future in a furever home. She is super affectionate and happy to meet new friends, both people and dogs. She will do anything for a ear scratch.. including doing her best to be a lapdog. She is learning how to be a house pet by getting used to routine, learning her manners and basic commands. She will although need to adjust to your schedule and will need support becoming housebroken and well mannered. She loves getting exercise and is eager as ever to race or jog with you down the street. When I met her the day she arrived in Canada, the first thing she did was hug me. And then she did it again and again and again. I’m totally not a hugger but it did touch my heart. If you’re not a hugger either, her beautiful brown eyes will get you!! She hasn’t had much experience with other dogs in our care but has been great with the two she has met. She’s excited to see dogs on walks and is not shy at all. A few times she has been a bit protective of her new human friends and has growled/barked at others coming over when she is getting pet. She may need some help with this but we will see how it processes as she continues to settle. She has been around kids and is great with them but as stated above, she is also a bit unpredictable! She doesn’t love cats, as she has never had to co-habitate — but she can likely be trained into recognizing them as her friends!

Meet BATATA! She has spent most her life in a shelter after being dumped at a young age, found with her foot cut-off. After rescue, her injury worsened and eventually the vet decided to cut off her back leg to stop infection. Now a new Canadian, BATATA is lovvvvving life and so happy to be here. She is a 45lb Egyptian street dog with what looks to be some Doberman traces and has her first birthdayin January. BATATA is shy upon initial meetings or when in a new place but loves all humans and asks for ALL the love and attention she can find. She loves to be close to people and will try to snuggle up to anyone who will allow it. She is also great with kids! She has moderate energy level as she is super enthusiastic about walks but is very chill and calm in the house. She is great left alone and will wait patiently for your return on the couch. She is potty trained and walks amazingly on leash. She is overall very obedient and easy to train. She loves meeting doggy friends but is timid with over-hyper dogs. She would make a great apartment dog due to her low energy level in the home and would benefit from trips to the dog park (which she loves) or daily walks! She is also yet to bark! She had her surgery about 10 months ago and is pretty well adjusted and understands that the tripod life chose her. There may be new experiences in her new life (like stairs) that she will need help accommodating to so keep that in mind! She is an inspiration with her spirit and is very happy go lucky. She doesn’t seem to be poorly affected by her past and we are amazed by her openness and trust. She is currently in her first heat cycle and will be spayed afterward.

Let’s check out how our pups did over the holidays in their furever home!

Chuck has been amazing! He’s a love bug, cuddle monster, and Tasmanian devil all in one! He is so outgoing and full of energy. He is not a shy boy at all, he made himself right at home. We’ve been working with him on his resource guarding and minor anxiety and is now sharing toys and feeling comfortable home alone. He is super excited and happy about life and we love him for that. Chuck has really completed our family, and we feel like he’s been with us furever.

People often ask why we don’t buy a puppy to “start fresh”. We simply tell them that the satisfaction, and unconditional love you get from a rescue pup is incomparable. Besides that, there are so many out there that need a furever home. We cannot thank SOS enough for everything they have done, and continue to do for these pups. Without SOS we would have never had our Jack and Chuck. Anytime people ask me about Chuck, whether it be strangers while we are on our walks, or family and friends, I do not hesitate to tell them about SOS and all the great work they do.

Daffy/Maddie is doing great! We went through a couple of weeks of adapting to one another, since I wake up very early, and she can be quite vocal! She’s gotten used to my work schedule of being in and out a few times a day, and so now she doesn’t worry so much. She is an easy-going girl, so no fussed up bed nor chewed up shoes, but she looooves playing ball!” SENIORS ROCK

CHURRO on one of his latest adventures in Algonquin! The best part of this photo is the story behind it. CHURRO arrived to SOS and was unable to walk properly due to a previous untreated injury. After help from our followers, we raised enough funds to get him the surgery he needed to feel comfortable in his own paws! He now happily trouts on ALL fours and is an adventure seeking boy!

Zane (formerly Pongo) has truly come a long way since the first night we met him. We heard about him the night that our first foster was picked up by his new family- and immediately made the call. He met me late one night in September w/ his tail between his legs, and dragged me around the block anxiously trying to ground himself in his new surroundings. From the moment I laid eyes on him, I knew we weren’t going to be giving him up. Maybe it was his “love me” eyes- or the fact that the first night he was with us we woke up to him sleeping in between us, under the covers. But since then, he has honestly transitioned into a totally different pup! He is super chill (with spurts of super un-chill) when we’re at home, and now sleeps in our bed every night *eye roll*. His favourite thing ever? Running w/ his friends at the park + pretty much just spending ALL the time outside meeting new dogs and people. OH and destroying sticks. And while it may not always be sunshine and unicorns w/ this guy (he enjoys eating pretty much anything he shouldn’t- including one of my favourite hats), he teaches us and gets us to live in the moment every day. We cannot imagine our lives without him, and are grateful for the crazy amount of support that SOS has given us before, during and after adoption. While we would have loved to open our home to more dogs – foster failing was the most rewarding stamp of failure we’ve ever received.
