Stalking Is Only Okay In Rom-Coms

Have you ever really thought about Rom-Coms and how creepy it is that someone is following you around trying to win your love?

Think about Rom-Coms and what they’re about… 99% of them include a guy or girl chasing someone with the end goal of making them their one true love.

*rolls eyes*

Wellllll believe it or not, studies have shown that women are less likely to find men to be stalkers because they’re influenced by Rom-Coms like 50 Shades of Grey and The Notebook which makes women desensitized to the “stalking” that happens in their everyday life.

Some simple examples:

Ryan Reynolds, The Proposal – “Margaret, will you marry me? Because I’d like to date you.” WHO SAYS THAT

Ryan Gosling, The Notebook – “I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year.” CREEEEEEEP

Robbie Turner, Atonement – ““I will return. I will find you. Love you. Marry you. And live without shame.” MAYBE NOT

Bram Stoker, Dracula (you might not call this a rom-com BUT it’s still VERY relevant) – “I have crossed oceans of time to find you” WHO EVEN ASKED YOU TO

Michael Cera, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World – “When I’m around you, I kind of feel like I’m on drugs. Not that I do drugs. Unless you do drugs, in which case I do them all the time. All of them.”  OBSESSIVE MUCH

Rom-Coms drill in our brains that being chased around and followed is cute and admiring when in reality it’s creepy and you are LITERALLY being stalked… STALKED FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!
