Canadian performers The Tenors had the honour of singing the Canadian National Anthem at the annual All-Star game being held in San Diego, California.

However, the group changed the traditional lyrics, “With glowing hearts we see thee rise. The True North strong and free,” instead the group sang, “We’re all brothers and sisters. All lives matter to the brave.”

This immediately started quite the tense conversation on social media. Check out The Tenors’ version for yourself:

Shortly after, The Tenors released a statement on Twitter apologizing for altering the lyrics to the anthem, and blaming member Remigio Pereira, who they claim acted as a “lone wolf” to “serve his own political views.”

The group says Pereira won’t be performing with the group until further notice.
