The dress that Marilyn wore which was covered in 2, 500 crystals and 6, 000 hand-sewn rhinestones has been sold to Ripley’s Believe It or Not, and will be placed in the Marilyn Monroe Gallery in Hollywood.  The dress, which was created by Jean Louis, was so tight, Marilyn had to be sewn into it.

This hasn’t been the first time this iconic dress has been bought and displayed.  In 1999, Christie’s purchased the dress for $1.27 million, which then set an all time record for being the most expensive piece of clothing sold at an auction.

Although it’s worth millions now, when Marilyn first bought it in the 1960’s, she paid only $12, 000!!
