One of the standout tracks from Drake’s Grammy winning album, Take Care (2011), is ‘Crew Love’, a collaboration he did with fellow Toronto superstar, The Weeknd.

Now, a version of the song, without Drake has surfaced online. Take a listen to it below.

Drake and The Weeknd will likely be tied together forever, as both artists come from the same hometown and, as mentioned above, worked together in the past.

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe of Beats 1, The Weeknd talked about Drake saying, He said, “He came in as my big bro and showed the world what I could do…From then on, he’s always been supporting me and I’ve always been supporting him. Behind the scenes, we’re still very close but it’s cool that the world can see us doing our own thing. OVOXO will always be there.”

When asked about a possible Weeknd-Drake project, he responded, “Maybe. Why not? “It’s cool to have both monsters work together as opposed to one monster and one little guy coming in. It’s dope, like Kanye and Jay Z, when [Watch the Throne] happened.”

He added, “He’s the homie. At the end of the day, that’s my guy. Oliver, 40, all of Toronto. There wouldn’t be any new artists from there if it wasn’t for Drake making Toronto cool because it wasn’t cool. Let’s be honest. Canada wasn’t ever cool.”

More recently, The Weeknd has begun making a play for the reigning Spotify King’s crown. Drake is Spotify’s most streamed artist of the year (for the second straight year) and The Weeknd’s Starboy album just hit the 220 million stream mark; he also broke the Spotify single day streaming record with over 40 million streams in 24 hours.
