2016 was a massive year for EDM duo The Chainsmokers, and one of their biggest hits was their collaboration, ‘Closer’ featuring Halsey.

The song spent the longest time at number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and helped to solidify both The Chainsmokers and Halsey as mainstream stars.

Damnit Maurie’s granny has been reading lyrics to some of this year’s GRAMMY-nominated songs. Watch as she tackles, ‘Closer’ which is up for ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’; The Chainsmokers are also up for ‘Best New Artist’.

“I know it breaks your heart
Moved to the city in a broke-down car
And four years, no calls
Now you’re looking pretty in a hotel bar
And I, I, I, I, I can’t stop
No, I, I, I, I, I can’t stop

So, baby, pull me closer
In the back seat of your Rover
That I know you can’t afford
Bite that tattoo on your shoulder
Pull the sheets right off the corner
Of that mattress that you stole
From your roommate back in Boulder
We ain’t ever getting older.”
