March 30th was a huge night for Selena Gomez because her new Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why finally premiered.

The premier was held in L.A. and Selena admitted that she got a little controlling in her role however, she took to Instagram and gave a shout-out to everyone who made the project happen: “I couldn’t be more overwhelmed with pride and joy.”

13 Reasons Why is very popular young adult book, written by Jay Asher and was published in 2007.  Selena says, “After 7 years of holding onto this book, I couldn’t of picked a better time for this message to exist. Jay Asher wrote a beautifully tragic, compelling story and we were lucky to have brought it to life.  Thank you to every single soul that put their heart into this passion project.”

Along with the show’s release, Selena revealed on her Twitter page that along with taking the role as executive producer, she also provided a song for the soundtrack.  It’s called ‘Only You’ and it’s a remake from 80’s duo, Yazoo.
