After 16 years and eight films, Fast & Furious will make history at this years MTV Movie & TV Awards, by being the first film franchise to receive the coveted Generation Award.

In previous years, this award has been received by individual actors for ‘outstanding achievement in film’.  Actors include Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr.

On behalf of the Fast & Furious family, Vin Diesel will accept the award, and he’ll be joined by co-stars Michelle Rodriguez (Letty), Jordana Brewster (Mia) and Tyrese Gibson (Roman).

Along with the award, Camila Cabello, Pitbull and J Balvin will perform ‘Hey Ma’ from The Fate of the Furious soundtrack.  This will be the first TV performance of the song since its release back in March.
