Students Get Pepper Sprayed Reportedly For Extra Credit in Class!

Look, when I was in school I was all about working extra hard to get the best grades possible in school; you might even say I was a bit of a nerd (so what though, nerds are cool)!

But this is a tad extra.

Students at Ohio’s Barberton High School were willing to get pepper sprayed in the face for their Criminal Science Technology course and people are mad!

In the video (which you can see above), 14 students each get a shot of pepper spray right in the face and the results are exactly what you might expect.

According to the school’s Superintendent Patricia Clearly, the students did so voluntarily and the pepper spray was administered by a former police officer.

She told People, “Students had an opportunity to voluntarily participate in an activity in which they would be subjected to a small amount of pepper spray for a brief period of time. The activity was conducted by the class instructor, who is a former police chief, and an experienced professional.

Added supervision was provided by the school’s resource officer. Students were required to have parental permission and consent in order to participate in the voluntary exercise. The intent of the training is to help the students gain an industry recognized credential in the law and public safety course curriculum that is offered by the Ohio Department of Education.”

Students had to receive permission to do the experiment.
