Selena Gomez Opens Up About Her Relationship with The Weeknd And Why She Went Public

Selena Gomez recently opened up about her relationship with The Weeknd while appearing on On Air With Ryan Seacrest.  During her interview, Selena explains why she made the decision to go public with Abel aka The Weeknd.

Selena says, “Because I’ve been doing this for so long, I don’t feel like there’s anything that I would want to … not necessarily hide, but I’m genuinely myself.  I think it’s really hard when I would want to spend so much time hiding things. It’s too much pressure, and I think everyone gets over everything eventually.”

The couple was first seen back in January when they were spotted kissing one another outside a restaurant in Santa Monica.  Since then, the two have been spotted in Europe, Coachella (where Selena snapped a cute pic with The Weeknd and posted it on her Instagram page), they made their red-carpet debut at the Mat Gala in May and of course, you can catch Selena at various shows while Abel is on tour.  “I just want to be happy.  If that’s me just being myself, then I don’t really care.”

In terms of new music, Selena spoke about her latest single, Bad Liar.  She says that she was very much in a different place and the song is basically more of telling a story than anything else.  As for the rest of the album … “It’s very moody. It’s just comfortable for me. It feels good.”

Selena also addressed issues surrounding her new Netflix hit, 13 Reasons Why.  She says, “The subject matter is a very complicated story to tell. It had this thriller, very dark, very weird kind of tone to it, and I think applying that and bringing it to a visual place is scary for people.”

If you’re a fan of the show get ready because Selena did say that the show’s second season will include ‘a lot of resolution’ and ‘a lot of repercussions’.
