Some of the biggest names in music have stopped through the 6ix over the last several weeks, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole to name a few; Shawn Mendes, The Chainsmokers and Bruno Mars are coming to town soon too, so it had me thinking, ‘What are some of the best concerts that I’ve been to?’

Here’s a list of my Top 5 Favourite Concerts that I’ve attended!

1. OVO FEST- 2013

OVO-Fest-2013

I went with my wife Jenna, Devo Brown and DJ Clymaxxx and we had an amazing time.

Special guests I remember were TLC, The Weeknd Kanye, Diddy and Mase, J. Cole (I think Nicki and Wayne also showed up). I remember there were rumours that Kanye and Drake had beef so seeing Ye show up was cool.

I remember Kanye saying, “There’s been a lot of rappers that came in the game that wasn’t able to do something like this for their city.”

Drake also showed Ye some love saying, “this is one of my first mentors, one of the first people to embrace me, my role model…Ya’ll make some noise for the god that is Kanye West.”

2. JAY-Z & KANYE WEST (WATCH THE THRONE TOUR) – 2011

Firstly, I LOVED their joint project, Watch The Throne which featured hits like, ‘Otis’, ‘H.A.M’ and ‘Paris’. They ended the show by performing the latter NINE TIMES!

They would go on to perform ‘Paris’ over a dozen times in a row in various cities, including 11 times in Vancouver!

(TIED)- 2 . JAY-Z’S ‘MADE IN AMERICA FESTIVAL’ – 2012

made in america

The lineup for the two days was incredible. Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Gary Clark Jr (he drew a big crowd on day 1 and got a huge response that Jay asked him to perform on Day 2), Rick Ross and all of MMG, Run DMC, D’Angelo Jay Z on night 1 (Kanye, Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz showed up and performed “Clique” and a few other songs.

Each artist then did two or three of their individual tracks and Kim K was standing side stage…she took pics for IG. Pearl Jam headlined night #2 with Jay coming out and performed 99 Problems with them). It was Labour day weekend and HOT!

3 . THE WEEKND’s ‘THE MADNESS FALL TOUR’ – 2015

Jenna and I had seen all of his live shows from the mixtape days till he went commercial. This show was incredible. He’s not the best dancer but his voice is incredible. Ed Sheeran showed up to perform their song ‘Dark Times’ together and people went nuts.

I think Lana Del Ray was there too and they performed their song, ‘Prisoner’. Just a great live show.

4 . JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’S ‘THE 20/20 EXPERIENCE’ TOUR – 2014

WORLD JT

I went to two shows, the first and second leg of the tour. That’s my fave JT album so I was loving every single song like, ‘Suit & Tie’ and ‘Mirrors’.

5 . ONE REPUBLIC in Detroit –  2013

I got a chance to see these guys in Detroit at a small amphitheatre (actually outside of Detroit) I think. They are so good live! Great light show to go along with live performance. I loved Ryan Tedder’s cover of Kanye’s ‘Gold Digger’.
