Miley Cyrus was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, and she opened the show with a performance of Dido’s 2013 song ‘No Freedom’ in tribute to Las Vegas alongside Adam Sandler.

Before introducing Miley and Adam to the stage, Jimmy made a few remarks regarding the the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, which took place in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

Fallon said, “This morning we woke up to the news of another senseless shooting — this time in Las Vegas.  In the face of tragedies and acts of terror, we need to remember that good still exists in this world. We’re here to entertain you tonight and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Later on, Miley explained her song choice, a song that she had once performed during her ‘Backyard Sessions’ for the Happy Hippie Foundation.

“There is no love without freedom, and I think about that when these tragic events happen.  What is music if we can’t go see our favourite artists perform because we’re scared of violence or we’re scared of losing someone that we love…. We’re supposed to be the land of the free but we can’t have freedom if we’re constantly living in fear.”

Also during the interview, it was revealed that Noah Cyrus (Miley’s sister) was going to be a guest on The Tonight Show next week, and Miley said that her sister is (almost) cooler than she is.

Miley also took the time to play Musical Genre Challenge (the object of the game – to take a well-known song and sing it in a different style).

In the first round, The Random Genre Generator chose R.Kelly’s ‘Ignition’, in which Miley had to transform that into ‘Bluegrass’ (according to Miley, “It was about to get real hillbilly.”)  For the last round, Miley remixed Cardi B’s No.1 hit, ‘Bodak Yellow’ in which she had to change up the melody to sound like a radio pop track.
