Ok, I have to admit when I first heard that Shaggy and Sting had teamed up on a record, I was skeptical, I just couldn’t hear the two mix together.

Well, I’m glad that I was DEAD wrong because the island vibes on ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ is EXACTLY what I needed.

Clearly, I wasn’t the only surprised by their collaboration as Sting told Rolling Stone, “The most important thing to me in any kind of music is surprise and everybody is surprised by this collaboration — by what they’re hearing. We’re surprising.”

Shaggy added, “This is exactly the record the world needs now.”

He couldn’t be more right in my opinion.

‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ is just the first taste of music that we’ll get from these two as it serves as the first single from their forthcoming joint album, 44/876 which is due out April 20th.

The two met this summer in Los Angeles during one of Shaggy’s studio sessions.

When Sting heard ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’, he immediately knew it would catch with people, “I just said, ‘as far as I know, that sounds like a hit to me’. I sang on the chorus, and then we tried to figure out a way to make it more of me than just a chorus, so we got a verse together.”

Take a listen to ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ and let me know what you think!
