Straight up, we should’ve left Logan Paul in 2017.

In case you missed it, the 22-year old YouTuber made headlines in January when he travelled to Japan and filmed an actual dead body in Aokigahara—a.k.a. “Suicide Forest”—an area located at the base of Mount Fuji, frequented by those wishing to commit suicide.

Paul uploaded the video to his 16 million subscribers, many of whom are young children that know Paul from the Disney show Bizaardvark.

Though briefly banned from YouTube, Paul returned to the interwebs on Feb. 5 with another controversial (read: idiotic) video.

In the video, Paul mistreats a range of animals. First, he removes a fish from water, notes that it’s “still breathing” and then puts it on the ground to die. Later, uses a taser on two dead rats.

Entitled “Get These Rats,” the video was flagged by PETA, who put Paul on blast for his blatant disregard for animal life. The organization’s senior vice president Lisa Lange told TMZ that they consider the video to be repulsive. “This sort of content has no place on YouTube or anywhere else, as it could desensitize young people to cruelty to animals. PETA is calling on [YouTube] to remove it.”

YouTube wasted little time in reacting. On the morning of Feb. 9, YouTube tweeted that it was stripping Paul’s channel of advertisements, which is likely the creator’s main source of revenue.

YouTube rarely takes this course of action with its larger channels, but the platform told The Telegraph that it was necessary. “We believe he has exhibited a pattern of behaviour in his videos that makes his channel not only unsuitable for advertisers, but also potentially damaging to the broader creator community,” a YouTube spokesperson said.
