I knew Demi Lovato was good, but I didn’t know she was THIS. GOOD.

Lovato stopped in Toronto for the Tell Me You Love Me Tour on March 19 and it completely exceeded all of my expectations.

Coming into the concert, not knowing many of Lovato’s more recent hits, I was overwhelmingly surprised by how she brought her message to life. The entire time she was on stage, Lovato was focused on the importance of self-love, determined to spread love and positive vibes across the stadium.

Before Lovato hit the stage, 22-year-old Kehlani, kicked off the show, performing hits like “Gangsta,” “Honey” and “Undercover.” Her highly energetic performance set the tone for what was next to come—the one and only DJ Khaled.

Opening up with a video montage of his son Asahd, DJ Khaled got everyone on their feet, pumping up the crowd with his fire mix of tracks featuring Toronto’s very own, Drake and OVO artist Baka Not Nice. Before leaving the stage, he showed nothing but love for the 6ix and one of his main collaborators Mr. 6ix God himself—Drake—by playing 5 of his biggest songs back to back.

Then Lovato arrived, starting off with a powerful rendition of “You Don’t Do it for Me Anymore” and following with major tracks like “Cool for the Summer,” “Heart Attack” and “Give Your Heart a Break”—all of which hit home with her long time Lovatics.

She also performed about half of the songs off her latest album, Tell Me You Love Me, released in September of 2017. Lovato’s set included 2 stages, with the main stage including her band, along with a smaller stage where she performed slower songs like “Concentrate,” “Cry Baby” and “Lonely.”

There was even a video cameo from Luis Fonsi as the duo performed “Echame La Culpa”—a.k.a. “Put the Blame on Me.”

While the tunes were slamming, what brought her show to the next level were Lovato’s intimate interactions with the audience. Throughout the show, Lovato took the time to shed light on some more personal topics including her fathers passing, her journey to sobriety and the importance of speaking out about mental health.

She also shared her newest initiative as part owner of CAST, a mental health and wellness treatment centre in Los Angeles.

Lovato finished the show with two of her all time hits—”Sorry Not Sorry” and “Tell Me You Love Me”—leaving fans wanting more.
