After a 10-month relationship, The Weeknd and Selena Gomez called it quits back in October.

Although there was ‘rumoured drama’ to have surrounded the relationship, a source confirmed that it was a mutual breakup.

“It was more of a mutual break up. They were distant because of work.  It didn’t end in a bad way. The relationship was basically over before Justin Bieber and Selena hung out.”

After Abel and Selena broke up, Selena soon began to hang out with her ex, Justin Bieber which lead everyone to believe the breakup was caused by the Biebs.

The source indicated that Abel was defintely not upset about Selena and Justin hanging out while other reports suggest that Selena and Justin began communicating shortly after Selena’s surgery and Abel was not having it.  To this day, their breakup remains a mystery.

Here’s what we do know – My Dear Melancholy, so all about Selena! In fact, The Weeknd admitted that his latest EP was ‘supposed to be upbeat and beautiful’ – up until the breakup and well, things went dark after that.

The Weeknd is back with ‘Thought I Knew You,’ a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and a song featured on her new album, Queen.  Since its release, fans can’t help but notice the lyrics and how they resemble Selena Gomez.  So is Abel throwing shade or is it just coincidence?

Let’s check out the lyrics:

“Misconstrued your love | You confused my love | You givin’ up on love | Not to love my love, yea | Tell me why you let me come inside for real | Never mind, you were never mine for real | Hit my line, I’ma hit decline for real | I ain’t trying for a second time for real | Honestly, I think this sh*t excites you | All that drama that you’re tied to | You play the victim every time too | That sh*t came back and hit you two times | I thought I knew you | I guess I didn’t | I thought I knew you | F*ck baby I guess I didn’t | I thought you was down for real | Thought you would stick around for real.”

Although Abel has moved on (well, maybe moving back?) with his ex, Bella Hadid, I feel like if this song IS about Selena, he’s still hurt, clearly!
