As seen in the first season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, we knew this day was coming for Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino but my heart literally dropped when I read the news.

After appearing in a New Jersey federal court earlier today, The Situation has been sentenced to eight months in prison followed by two years of ‘supervised release.’

As PEOPLE explains, “He [Mike] must complete 500 hours of community service and was given $123,913 in restitution, which he has already paid, plus a fine of $10,000 that must be paid within 30 days.  Sorrentino and his brother Marc were initially indicted in September 2014 for tax offenses and conspiring to defraud the United States after allegedly failing to properly pay taxes on $8.9 million in income from 2010 to 2012.  In April 2017, both men were indicted on additional charges including tax evasion, structuring and falsifying records.”  Although Mike received 8 months in prison, his brother Marc received two years.

Mike’s Jersey Shore cast members including JWoww, Ronnie, Deena, Snooki, Angelina, Pauly D and Vinny all came out to show their support along with Mike’s fiancé Lauren and his family members.  In an Instagram post Mike says, “We are very happy to put this behind us.  Thank you so much for all the love and support.”

Just this week, Mike celebrated 34 months of sobriety and he and fiancé Lauren had their wedding shower and get this, both JWoww and Snooki’s daughters, Giovanna and Meilani will be the flower girls.

Mike says, “I had a very strong foundation for my recovery with over two years [sober] when I entered the house, but I did have to challenge myself to go out and film a whole season of Jersey Shore and have fun without alcohol – to show the youth out there that it is possible.”

Sending Mike lots of love during this time!
