Earlier this week, The Weeknd took part in launching Hxouse, which is a Toronto-based, non-profited creative incubator that was founded by XO creative director La Mar Taylor. Back in July, La Mar told Forbes, “This was always in the making based off my experiences with all of the things that Abel and myself had to overcome, whether it was finding a recording studio, finding other creatives to collaborate with and finding places to facilitate those ideas.”

It was at Hxouse Live that The Weeknd announced his new album, “Being in Toronto these past two days, I haven’t been this inspired in years. I want you guys to be the first to know that I’m working on my new album right now. Chapter 6 coming soon.”

Following his show, The Weeknd then tweeted, “Some chapters are smaller than others.  Not this next one though …”

Back in March of this year, The Weeknd dropped the My Dear Melancholy EP.  It was a six-track EP, influenced by a broken heart and his split from Selena Gomez.  In his cover story for Time, The Weeknd explained his latest album took a different turn when he and called it quits, “Prior to Melancholy, I had a whole album written, done.  [It] wasn’t melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life. … It was very upbeat — it was beautiful.  I don’t want to perform something that I don’t feel.”  In the same interview, The Weeknd explained that fans will never hear that ‘upbeat, beautiful’ album.

Abel’s new album will be his first full-length album since Starboy in 2016.
