In honour of Drake and his close partnership with the Toronto Raptors, the Raptors’ new training facility has officially been renamed: OVO Athletic Centre.  ‘OVO,’ which stands for ‘October’s Very Own’ is the same name for Drake’s clothing line AND record label, which was all co-founded by the 6 God himself.  Drake began his partnership with the ball team in September of 2013 when he was named the teams ‘global ambassador.’

ET Canada explains, “The main entrance of the OVO Athletic Centre brandishes the building’s name in gold, while the sides of the building bear both the Raptors slashed-ball logo and the OVO owl.  The gold signs boast LED lights that shine white at night.”

Below is a video that was posted on Twitter by the Toronto Raptors account, and shows Drake receiving a key to the facility.  ET Canada notes, The building first opened in 2016 as the BioSteel Centre and has been known as the Toronto Raptors Training Centre since 2018.”  Watch below.

Drake wrote on Instagram, “Introducing the OVO Athletic Centre, the official training facility for the Toronto Raptors.  Just wanted to add that I am so proud of my brothers and so proud to be from this city I swear this one feels like a high school dream and it’s a blessing to be able to raise up the levels and make the human mind stretch when it comes to thinking about what is possible in your lifetime! Much love to everyone involved.”

Masai Ujiri, who is the president for the Raptors said in a statement, “Drake and OVO are an important part of our city’s landscape, our team’s identity, and our plans to bring a championship to Toronto.  With each step of our partnership over the last five and a half years, we have worked together to build a winning basketball program in Toronto and deliver for our fans and our community.  This new naming rights deal for our training facility is a perfect example of the strength of this partnership and the innovative opportunities it can generate.”
