The city was buzzing today when Toronto congregated at Queen’s Park for this year’s Global Climate Strike. Hosted by Fridays For Future, the rally to advocate against climate change drew thousands of people.

Earlier this afternoon I headed down to Queen’s Park to catch a glimpse of the rally. From unique and creative signs, to the young faces in the crowd, to the amazing speakers & performers, if I had to describe my experience in one word it would be: ELECTRIC!

If you weren’t able to be there, here are some of my favourite signs from the rally:

Were these young activists inspired by Greta Thunberg? Time for a few Greta fun facts!

At 11 years old, Greta was so sad by climate change that she stopped speaking.

Greta’s inspirations include teenage activists from Parkland, Florida protesting to end gun violence.

Speaking of inspirations, climate campaigners worldwide pointed to Greta as an inspiration for the first Global Strike For Climate in March 2019.

Last but not least, Greta’s mom is an opera singer, and her dad an author/actor.

I hope you had a great experience at today’s rally, and go into the weekend thinking about how we can change our planet for the better. ~Lucas The Intern
