In a statement made by Dua, she says, “I chose to put this song out first so I could close one chapter of my life and start another.  Into a new era with a new sound! It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that. It also felt like a natural first song choice as I made it with the brilliant same crew I made ‘New Rules’ with.”

Days after its drop, Don’t Start Now hit number one on iTunes.  On Instagram Dua writes, “We hit number 1 on the worldwide iTunes chart and I’m fizzing with excitement! Thanks to everyone listening, sharing and streaming.”

Dua has previously collaborated with Calvin Harris, Blackpink and Silk City (Mark Ronson and Diplo) and her collaboration with Silk City (‘Electricity’) won ‘Best Dance Recording’ at the 2019 GRAMMY Awards.  When Dua releases her sophomore album, it’ll be the follow-up to her self-titled debut album, released in 2017 and included  her biggest track-to-date, New Rules.

And during her interview with Zane Lowe, Dua confirmed the title track from her second studio album will drop next month!
