25-year old Southern California native Tai Verdes is July’s ‘One to Watch’ artist.

Four years ago, the 6’7 former college basketball player dropped out of college and began to pursue his lifelong dream – music. To break into the industry, Tai began modelling, which then lead to a stint on MTV’s reality show, Are You Then One? and finally, he began to release music under the name, Tylersemicolon.

 

 

Just three months into the COVID-19 pandemic, Tai Verdes was an essential worker, working a 9-5 job at an L.A. Verizon Wireless store.  He now has a No.3 Billboard Heatseekers and a No.5 Spotify debut album, and one of the biggest viral hits in the US right now, which The New York Times describes as ‘one of the best songs of 2020.’

After Tai posted a series of TikTok videos, his debut single ‘Stuck In The Middle,’ which dropped in May of 2020, reached No.1 on Spotify’s US viral chart, and has since been streamed well over 80 million times.

 

 

Tai’s latest single, ‘A-O-K’ has had a similar path, having been streamed more than 30 million times and 50 thousand TikTok creations, totalling more than 400 million views in just a few short weeks.

 

 

And it looks like Tai is here to stay.  In a recent interview, Tai says, “I’m gonna be a problem.  I love everything that’s happening, but this is not a one song thing, this is a 10-album thing.”

Tai currently has 1.62 million followers on TikTok along with 24.5 million likes, 368k followers on Instagram, 149l subscribers on YouTube, and 242.7k followers on Spotify.
