Canada is expected to officially reveal a joint bid to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.  Also in the running … Mexico and the United States, this all according to the New York Times.

The 2026 World Cup will include 48 teams which means that there is an opportunity for more cities to host the game.

Back in 2015, the president for the Canadian Soccer Association said that various venues between Toronto, Edmonton, Hamilton, Winnipeg and Vancouver could potentially be expanded to host the World Cup Games.

However, BMO Field in Toronto is the ONLY soccer stadium that has natural grass and men’s FIFA matches all have to played on natural grass.  Although BMO Field’s capacity is just over 30, 000, it can actually be expanded to 40, 000 for ‘major’ events.

This would give soccer fans to cheer on the Canadian team for the FIRST time since 1986!!
