It’s that time of the week again… #PetThursdays

We constantly fill your feed with Save Our Scruff updates because WE LOVE THEM, but if you still don’t know… Save Our Scruff is an organization based out of Toronto, created by Laura Bye. Save Our Scruff focuses on rescuing and rehoming dogs in need into loving homes here in Toronto and the GTA.

If you’re interested in adopting or fostering a dog, Save Our Scruff has a ton of pups that need homes! Here are some cuties you can rescue.

Meet CARLOS! He is a two year old black beauty weighing in at about 5lbs. He was very shy on arrival but settled in very quickly. He’s pretty chill, he likes to lay around, particularly right beside his foster! Sometimes when he wants pets he paws you (which is totally adorable). He seems to be the quietest chihuahua ever who is yet to bark (fingers crossed). He whines sometimes and also quietly snores (also adorable) so he would make a great apartment dog! He’s not that into his food but loves treats and always tries to sneak food. Going outside on walks makes him very nervous, though the more times hes gone out the more comfortable he gets. He doesn’t like going to the bathroom outside due to nerves but whenever he does he gets a treat so he is learning! He seems to mostly understand the pee pad, but sometimes he pees next to it instead of on it. So he gets praised each time he uses it properly. We hope to continue this in his home. He’s so wonderful and so sweet. He’s great to hang out with cause he’ll just cuddle right up to you! He will make someone who lives alone VERY HAPPY! He is nervous around dogs and is yet to be cat tested.

Here’s INDIA. This beautiful 3 year old Mexican Malix has been at PAR for..well her whole life. She has been overlooked by many because of her age and black dog syndrome. She is quirky and full of live. She is very confident and will be a very loyal pet. She’s amazing. We can’t wait to find a home as deserving of her as she is of them.

Meet FRANK! He is a 1 year old chihuahua from LA. He is super nervous at first and likes to shake his booty (because he is nervous). He is great with other dogs, but can get possessive/jealous of other dogs in the home. That being said, he is 6lbs and his behaviors are easily corrected. He always wants to cuddle and be loved. Really he is a dog looking to be loved and give love. He always wants to be beside his people (in bed, on their lap etc.) and loves giving kisses. He is a big suck! He doesn’t need a ton of exercise but likes to go on walks etc. He’s also great with cats!

Meet THALIA — a three year old Malix. She came other with INDIA from PAR rescue in Mexico. This rescue focuses a lot of their time and energy on adult street dogs. These dogs seem to get over looked..but they are just as deserving as street puppies. Here’s a note from her foster: “THALIA is settling in really well. The first couple nights she was so scared and skittish, and would curl up by the door. A week later and she is feeling right at home, claiming one side of the couch as her own, found herself a toy in the form of my left fuzzy slipper, and gives me tons of hugs (she gives the best hugs). She is incredibly sweet and gentle with big chocolate brown eyes that make it hard not to fall in love with her. At home she is low key energy wise, but her playful side shows once she is outside. She loves to run around and be chased or do the chasing, she is learning fetch, and walks well on the leash too. She is great with people and kids of all ages. When it comes to other dogs, particularly males, she is not having any of it and needs some help making friends. She is fully house trained. Also she doesn’t like her name being pronounced the ‘English’ way as in Tal-ya, and only responds if you say it the Spanish way, as in Ta-lee-ah, like the Mexican singer. All of my friends who’ve met her love her, and whoever becomes her furever family will love her too. It’s going to be hard to say bye to this chica.”

Meet DAIZY! This 8 month Dominican mix came to Toronto looking for the chance to find her forever home! She’s a medium sized BEAUTY, who will grow to be about 35-40lbs. She is very friendly, dog social and cat friendly. She is just settling into Toronto, being a little shy, but very open. Maybe she can teach you a little spanish. P.S. Can we just take a second to look at those eyes?!

Meet Walter White! This 5 month Jack Russell would be a lovely addition to any household! He is very adaptable as he is good with people, dogs and cats. He actually loves cats! Like, LOVES. He really enjoys the dog park and his foster siblings, one dog and a cat who he plays beautifully with. He had some separation anxiety initially but seems to be settling in nicely. He does mark in the house but is working on this in his foster home. He would do great in a home with other pets! He likes to run around so either a backyard or a home that is available to exercise him will be key!
