I happen to be a big fan of Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui for a number of reasons.

She’s incredibly talented and stunningly beautiful but what impresses me most is that she’s unafraid to speak her mind and she’s been especially outspoken against US President Donald Trump and his policies and often controversial rhetoric.

Back in January, she wrote an open letter to Trump after his controversial Immigration band.

She wrote,

This country was built and continues to survive off the backs of immigrants and refugees. The term refugee in itself is such a significant word. These people are not terrorists: Many are escaping wars that we created in their lands. To tell another human being that the disastrous tortures of war are not important and to then go even a step further and insult their plight for freedom by labeling them “terrorists” is just disrespectful to humanity. The only terrorism that both history and I have experienced has been at the hands of powerful White men who are willing to systematically kill and conquer without an ounce of empathy for anything but their pockets.

My young people who understand and did not choose this for their future, the older generation who blindly chose to take this comfortable future we all envisioned away: We have never known war, we have never known the pain of discomfort, we have been privileged and promised into our moral oblivion.”

Well, Lauren is opening up again in a new interview with Billboard Argentina on some more lighter topics.

When asked if she considers herself a Latin artist (she is Cuban-American), Lauren said,

“Of course! I love South America. I’m Cuban, and every time I’m over there, I feel the genuine love. I’m moved by the way we’re treated. I was raised with Latin culture, and I love it. About that collaboration, I can’t say much, but, we’re working on it! Making music with ShakiraNicky Jam or J Balvin would be amazing. If it were up to me, I’d do it with everyone!”

She also spoke glowingly of her Fifth Harmony bandmates,

“Ally [Brooke] is the sweetest being you could possibly imagine. Dinah [Jane Hansen] is carefree; she doesn’t suffer irrelevant things. She only keeps the positive and holds no grudges. And Normani [Kordei] is the most hard-working person I know, and she’s always trying to improve and be the best version of herself.”
