As I sit here writing this, I hear some co-workers talking about Roy.

“Yeah, just heartbroken.”

Roy Halladay, who became known as “Doc” Halladay, died in a plane crash in Florida on Tuesday.

Sportsnet reports the plane went down off the coast of Florida, about 10 miles from St. Petersburg.

He was only 40 years old.

Our thoughts go out to his wife and his two boys.

BASEBALL CAREER

Roy Halladay was a Blue Jay. Sure he played for Philadelphia, but he was a Blue Jay.

Halladay played for the team from 1998 to 2009 when he was traded to the Phillies.

In 2009, he took out a full page ad in the newspaper thanking Blue Jays fans:

“Toronto will forever have a special place in my heart. The memories will last a lifetime and so will my gratitude.”

In 2003 he won the Cy Young Award (he would win another with the Phillies).

He played for the Phillies 2010-2013, and then signed a one-day contract with the Blue Jays to retire with his OG team.

He was an all-star eight times.

FLYING

Halladay has wanted to become a pilot but couldn’t as a professional athlete.

His love of flying was years in the making and once retired from baseball he set out to become a pilot.

A video posted just weeks ago on YouTube showed him getting a special edition of the Icon Aircraft A5.

The video was removed today.
