Taylor Swift Has Applied for More Trademarks Including 'Swiftmas' and '1989'

Taylor Swift wants to own the English dictionary. After applying for trademarks for phrases like, “This Sick Beat” and “nice to meet you; where you been” from her smash 1989 album earlier this year, Swift is now on a new mission; to trademark the entire English language. She’s expanded her ownership claims, to Swiftmas, Blank Space, and 1989.

Reports have come out that on December 3rd, Taylor applied for trademarks for the following phrases, Blank Space (the hit song from her 1989 album), 1989 (the title of her album), A Girl Named Girl (the title of a novel Swift wrote when she was 15), I’ll Write Your Name (a line from Blank Space), and Swiftmas (the term she uses for her annual holiday giveaway to her fans).

It’s important to note that if Swift is granted trademarks for any of these phrases, they’ll only be trademarked when referencing Taylor Swift. So Taylor won’t actually own the year 1989…FOR NOW. But who knows, that could be the next step in her plan for world domination.
