Ten-year-old Aron Anderson lives on the tiny remote Scottish island of Out Skerries (Pictured Above). The island is so remote that he is literally the only student at his entire school 🙁

If you ever wanted a teacher to give your child their sole undivided attention, you should send them to Skerries Community School. That’s where Aron Anderson is the only student on the entire island. Anderson, told the Telegraph that, “It is quite weird sometimes – not having anyone else at school. But I like this island. I can ride around and explore on my bike; in summer I can swim in the sea and jump off the pier.” The Telegraph also wrote that because there are no other school aged children on the island, his best friend’s are dog, some ducks and flocks of sheep. AAAAAWWWW

The small island has a population of only 65 people and Aron was left as the only student when 3 local children graduated to secondary school this year. Aron’s education also costs the island £75,357 a year.

Aron’s mother said of the situation, “This is going to be his first winter as the only pupil so it’s hard to tell how it will be for him. I do feel sorry for Aron being all by himself at school – but he really is happy. Spending a lot of time with adults has made him quite grown-up, but he does enjoy trips to the mainland to meet other children. I just wish we could go back ten years. It would be lovely to have some more families here. And if any did decide to come, there is already a ten-year-old here for their children to play with.”

But Aron won’t be lonely for long! Reddit has taken hold of the story and will be sending Aron Christmas cards this month. Check out the campaign:
