Demi Lovato’s mom Dianna De La Garza opens up about Demi’s overdose for the first time since it happened in July.

She made an appearance on Newsmax TV and said, “It’s still a really difficult thing to talk about. I literally start to shake a little bit when I start to remember what happened that day.”

She had no idea her daughter overdosed until she was bombarded with texts and calls from Demi’s friends wishing her well. Then Demi’s assistant called Dianna to give her the news. Her assistant told her mom that she was conscious but couldn’t speak. That’s when she knew something was wrong…

She said “I was in shock. I didn’t know what to say, It was just something that I never, ever expected to hear, as a parent, about any of my kids. She just didn’t look good—at all. She was in bad shape. But I said to her, ‘Demi, I’m here. I love you.’ And at that point she said back to me, ‘I love you, too.'”

She says Demi is doing well now because of all the positivity she’s gotten from everyone who wished her well.

She says, “I just feel like the reason she’s alive today is because of the millions of prayers that went up that day when everybody found out what was happening,” she said. “I don’t think she would be here if it hadn’t been for those prayers.”

Sending love to the family! <3
