Kanye West has a pulled a Diddy and changed his name.  He is no longer known as ‘Kanye West’ – he is now ‘Ye’ – I can’t make this stuff up!

Ahead of his TV performance on season 44 of Saturday Night Live, Kanye West will debut as ‘Ye’ and word has it that he will release his brand new album, Yhandi sometimes during tonight’s episode.

Earlier this morning, Kanye tweeted the news of his name change, “the being formally known as Kanye West.  I am YE.”

According to Kanye, there’s actually a religious significance to his new name.  He explained to Real 92.3’s Big Boy, “In the Bible it means ‘you.’  So I’m you, I’m us.  It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to being just YE – just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything.  I’m just more a reflection of who we are.”

Here’s the thing – fans saw this coming! Not only did Kanye use ‘Ye’ as the title for his last album BUT he also rapped, “I’m giving up my slave name / I’m giving up my slave name / Saint, you don’t really need a last name / North, you don’t really need a last name,” in a song that’s featured on his new album Yhandi.  Below is a video of Kanye playing new music during his recent visit to FADER HQ.

And earlier this month, it was announced that Kanye will be moving back to the windy city aka Chicago.  Kanye says, “I’ve got to let you know that I’m moving back to Chicago and I’m never leaving again.”  We have yet to hear if Kim will follow her husband’s big move or stay in Calabasas, Cali.
