The Billboard Women in Music event took over New York City earlier this week and Ariana Grande, dressed in a beautiful, lavender-coloured dress with matching knee-high books and of course, rocking her signature long ponytail, accepted the ‘Woman of the Year’ award and performed her latest record, ‘Thank U, Next.’

Upon accepting her ‘Woman of the Year’ award, Ariana gave a moving speech, fighting back tears as she talks about 2018, “This is really special. I want to say that I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years in my career and, like, the worst of my life.  I’m not saying that for sympathy, I’m just saying that because I feel like a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now, I guess, like ‘Woman of the Year,’ an artist that could be at her peak, like reaching her, you know, whatever, and think, ‘She’s really got her shit together, you know, like, she’s really on it, she’s got it all.’ I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the fuck I am doing. So yeah, it’s been a very conflicting one. And I just want to say that if you’re someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter is going to bring, you’re not alone in that.”

Following the Billboard event, Ariana posted a photo on Instagram with Monte Lipman, Republic Records CEO and praised her record company for all that they do, “Dear Monte Lipman and Republic Records, I know it ain’t always easy being in business with a tiny, Italian, hard ball playing, pixie like me.  I want to thank you for making me feel supported, for trusting my vision and always doing what’s right.  Monte, your loyalty and belief in me since 2010 is so greatly appreciated, I don’t really have words.  Thank you for not taking advantage of my excitement about my art and always taking care of me.  Your actions have proven time and time again how fortunate I am not only to be working with the best there is, but with a team that truly cares about the big pictures.  I look forward to so much much more music and many more memories.  I am so grateful and excited to share this new project with everyone ASAP.”
