According to Billboard, “Few Latin artists have taken the Grammys stage, let alone opened the show, in its 61 years.  As Billboard reported last year, Latin performances at the Grammys are very rare, considering the exponential growth of U.S. Latinos and their current buying power.”

In the past, Latin performers who have taken the GRAMMY stage include Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee, Pitbull, Juanes, Shakira with Wyclef Jean, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, Carlos Santana, Gloria Estefan, Celia Cruz and Tito Puente.

In addition, the beautiful Alicia Keys will host the 61st GRAMMY awards and in a statement she says, “It’s a little bit of a second home to me and I feel so blessed to be able to be coming now, just in support of so many amazing people that are honoured — especially so many women that are [going to be] honoured — and are going be celebrated that night.  I want to celebrate! I want to be the one that really just continues to reach out to the people that I love and admire and my friends, and just be able to create an amazing energy. So I’m loving it!”

Although Drake and Kendrick Lamar are in the lead with this year’s most nominations, they unfortunately will not be hitting the stage.  Cardi B however, who is nominated for five awards including ‘Best Rap Album’ and ‘Record of the Year’ will perform as well as Shawn Mendes, Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Dan + Shay, Post Malone and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janelle Monae and many more!
