Exactly a month after Ariana Grande dropped the ‘7 Rings’ remix with 2 Chainz, she went back into the studio, collaborated on a new track which is featured on 2 Chainz’s new album and together, dropped a new record and video for ‘Rule the World.’

The video is directed by Sebastian Sdaigui and it’s all about time-travel.  Ariana and Chainz find themselves at some underground jazz spot in L.A. and perform their latest collab on stage.  While Ari rocks feathery sleeves, Chainz is decked out in an all-white suit.

Tommy Brown, who is Ariana’s produced explained to Billboard how he had Ari and Chainz meet in a studio rather than good old fashioned email while putting the record together, “At first, Chainz wanted me to send him the song, but I was like, ‘No, we all have to get in the studio together.’ This was in Los Angeles, and it was really cultures meeting.”

When Ariana initially dropped the video for ‘7 Rings,’ fans from all over accused her of copying from 2 Chainz.  During an interview with Angie Martinez, Angie told Chainz, “People thought she bit (copied) your trap house.”  Chainz responded, “She did…it was the same aesthetics and everything, but I didn’t make up the colour pink either, so I made a little post on Instagram but I’m careful not to step into that petty lane.  It got further than I thought because her management called my management… and set up just a meeting in a studio so we could have some dialogue.  She said some things and I said some things and maybe a couple of hours later she did a song for me and I did the remix for the 7 Rings song.”

Chainz continued, “I’m learning more about her as I work with her, learning how big she is, I didn’t realize she was the most followed person on Instagram…if I over react, we don’t even link up or get songs done.”

I’m happy to see Ari and Chainz put their differences aside.  Won’t lie – those two on a collaboration is everything and their sound is amazing! Here’s hoping for more projects in the future!
