According to Music Business Worldwide, “Khalid is now the most streamed artist in the world with 50.196 million monthly listeners.  Spotify officially had 207 million active users worldwide at the close of last year.  Today’s news, therefore, suggests that somewhere close to a quarter of Spotify’s total global audience has listened to Khalid at some point in the past month.”

 

Kehlani tweeted the news, sharing, “A 21-year old black boy is the number one most listened to artist in the world.”

Khalid has officially put Ariana Grande in the number two spot on the Spotify charts.

 

Ariana Grande is number two with 50,026,186 monthly Spotify listeners.

J. Balvin is number three with 48,274,653 monthly Spotify listeners.

Post Malone is number four with 47,620,291 monthly Spotify listeners.

Billie Eilish falls into the number five spot with 45,120,246 monthly Spotify listeners.

At a young age, Khalid has already mastered major music success.   American Teen, which was his debut album peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200s album chart and the album also went double platinum.  His debut album produced some of Khalid’s biggest tracks including, ‘Location’ and ‘Young, Dumb and Broke.’  Both singles went double-platinum worldwide.  It was just last year Khalid was nominated for five GRAMMY awards, which include Best New Artist and released an EP called Suncity.  Khalid also dropped his second studio album, Free Spirit and will soon head out on a world tour.
