It's Been 10 Years Since Kanye West Interrupted Taylor Swift's VMA Speech

Roz & Mocha aren’t the only ones celebrating a 10 year anniversary. Taylor Swift and Kanye West are celebrating 10 years since the “Imma let you finish” incident at the 2009 VMAs.
If you don’t remember what happened, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift were two of the nominees for ‘Best Female Video’; Taylor for ‘You Belong With Me’ and Beyoncé for ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”.

When Taylor Swift was announced as the winner, she made her way to the stage to accept her award and as she was beginning her speech Kanye West stormed the stage; he grabbed the mic and that’s when pop culture history was made.

Taylor Swift was (obviously) emotional afterwards, but one thing we didn’t learn until a decade later was that Beyoncé was too! Former President of Viacom, Van Toffler, who was producing the VMAs that night said,

‘I walk behind the stage and sure enough there is Beyoncé and her dad and she is crying. She was like “I didn’t know this was going to happen, I feel so bad for her.”‘

Taylor Swift, who was set to perform shortly after her speech was also seen crying backstage as well.
