Firefly Lane is back and it’s dropping sooner than you think!  Based on the novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah, the series follows Tully and Kate throughout the ups and downs during their 30-year friendship.  The series stars Katherine Heigl (Tully) and Sarah Chalke (Kate).

According to the official synopsis from Netflix, “The second season follows Kate as she grapples with the painful aftermath of Johnny’s ill-fated trip to Iraq, while Tully faces a lawsuit after walking away from her talk show, and must start her career over from the bottom.  Through her lawsuit, Tully seeks answers about her birth father, against the wishes of her secretive hippie mother, Cloud.”

Netflix also promises that Firefly Lane fans ‘will learn the answer to why Tully and Kate are no longer friends.’  Sarah previously teased, “So, this issue between Tully and Kate, we can’t say much, but we can say that it’s family-related, and it has nothing to do with Johnny.”

What you’ll need to know: The second season will be released in two parts – the first will include nine episodes and the second will have seven and will be the final season.  The final release will premiere sometime in 2023.

 

We first learned about the second season back in August 2021 when Katherine tweeted, “Back in Vancouver for season two of Firefly Lane on Netflix.”

Firefly Lane first premiered on Netflix in February 2021 and was renewed for its second season in May of the same year. Many of the original cast members will return for the second season however, fans will notice new faces – Ignacio Serricchio as Danny, Jolene Purdy as Justine, India de Beaufort as Charlotte and Greg Germann as Benedict.

 

Part one of ‘Firefly Lane’ season 2 premieres on Netflix on Friday December 2.
