A Giant Gold Bum Backdoored Its Way to a Prestigious Art Award Nomination

A 10 metre-high gold sculpture of a man grabbing his naked rear-end is short-listed for a prestigious art award in the U.K.

The golden bum, made by Anthea Hamilton, is up for the Turner Prize. If you’re not familiar with the award, Tate.org writes, “The Turner Prize is awarded annually to an artist under fifty, born, living or working in Britain, for an outstanding exhibition or public presentation of their work anywhere in the world in the previous year.”

The massive butt is called ‘Project for Door’ and iNews says that its a “comment on fetishism.” It was originally displayed in New York, but broken down and remodelling with the same materials for this Turner Award exhibit.

Now, all that’s left to figure out is, who’s butt is it??? The man who’s behind the sculpture is modelled after says that he wants to remain anonymous. However, he did say he’ll visit the piece and will allegedly enter through the rear door in an attempt to go unnoticed.
