It was confirmed at a South by Southwest panel that Ed Sheeran will appear in season 7 of HBO’s Game of Thrones (!!!!!!) and the reason behind his casting is adorable!!

Game of Thrones stars Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner were moderating a SXSW panel, and revealed that the directors had tried to invite Ed on the show multiple times as a surprise for Williams, who is a HUGE fan!!

Game of Thrones is no stranger to celebrity guests, but they dress them up so that they’re pretty much recognizable. Remember when bands like Coldplay, and Mastodon were on Game of Thrones? …Exactly.
